White was returning from his volunteer work as a member of “Boots on the Ground,” a nonprofit organization that serves veterans with various needs throughout the year. On September 28 he was heading back from providing a motorcycle escort for WWII veterans who were flying out of Long Island MacArthur Airport for a trip to Washington D.C. He was at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Veteran’s Highway when 55-year-old Paul Porrini allegedly ran through a red light and struck White and three other vehicles. Porrini has been charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs.

White left behind a wife, Dorothy, and three sons, Ryan, Caleb and Jack, all under the age of nine.
