Michelle Metelenis is being inducted into St. Joseph's College's Athletic Hall of Fame this month.

Michelle Metelenis, a Holbrook resident who currently teaches elementary special education, is being honored later this month for her sports accomplishments during her college years.

Metelenis is being inducted into St. Joseph's College's Golden Eagles Hall of Fame on Sept. 27 at the Long Island Campus in Patchogue.

According to an announcement from the college, Metelenis graduated in 2004 from the school and is a former women's cross-country team member. Metelenis was a two-time Skyline and WIAC Conference champion and the third woman to capture an individual championship for the Golden Eagles. She is also the first of only two females in the program's history to meet that accomplishment two times.

Her other accomplishments listed include posting the best-ever ECAC Championship finishes for SJC by finishing 13th in 2002 and 16th in 2003, wins at various invitationals and course records at Sunken Meadow and Van Cortlandt Parks.

The event honoring Metelenis is taking place Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at the 155 W. Roe Blvd. campus location in Patchogue. Tickets cost $25 and include the program and pre-event cocktail reception. Reservations are being requested by Sept. 20 to Paige Napoli Carbone at 631-687-2653 or pcarbone@sjcny.edu.
