Police: Child In Stroller, Mom Hit In Crash

Both were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Both a Lake Ronkonkoma mother and her five-year-old child were struck by a vehicle while crossing Portion Road in Lake Ronkonkoma Sunday, Suffolk County police told Patch.

According to police, the 39-year-old woman was pushing her child in a stroller within the crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle attempting to make a left turn at 6:24 p.m. The driver, a 56-year-old from West Babylon, told police he did not see the mother and child due to sun glare.

The mother and child were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Police did not identify the names of anyone in this incident.
