Holbrook Man Charged in July Road Rage Incident

Thomas Brown Jr. faces a reckless endangerment charge for incident on Veteran's Highway.

A 37-year-old Holbrook man is facing reckless endangerment charges for a road rage incident that occurred in late July on Veterans Memorial Highway, according to Suffolk Police.

Thomas Brown Jr. was arrested Sunday following a month-long investigation by Fifth Precinct Crime Section Police Officer Thomas Hannafey.

According to police Brown has been identified as the driver who drove on the wrong side of the highway on July 24 just before noon following a road rage incident.

Police say Brown was traveling on Veteran’s Memorial Highway when he approached road construction that merged two lanes into one and got into a dispute with another driver.

Police say Brown was waiting to make a left turn onto Coates Avenue when he claims the other driver threw an object at his car. Brown then make a right heading eastbound on the westbound shoulder of the highway nearly hitting several vehicles, according to police.

In a statement shortly after the incident Suffolk Police issued a statement that police was investigating the incident as a Reckless Endangerment 2 and a Reckless Driving incident.

Reckless Endangerment 2 is a Class A misdemeanor and Reckless Driving is an unclassified misdemeanor, according to the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

Brown is to be arraigned at a later date, according to police.
