My family has a dream....

On Tuesday, September 3, 2013 the first day of school when you see my 3 beautiful daughters standing at the bus stop on there way to Sequoya Middle School know that there brother Bailey who has Autism is missing from the picture. Know he is being segregated from his home school, his friends, neighbors, 3 sisters, and staff he has developed relationships for 2 years because he has a disability.
Know there is a placement at Sequoya for him but was denied based on his low scores on his NYS assessments and his IQ score.
My family has a dream that one day Sachem will stop segregating based on disability and understand that we have a moral, civil, ethical, and legal right to include all children in there community. Parents should not have to fight for it. It should be a given right and the first placement that should be looked at.
I will stay positive for my children on Tuesday and everyday but segregation due to disability should not be ignored and this issue should not be kept quiet.
