The Park offers two playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, handball courts, soccer fields, baseball fields, picnic tables and walking trails. You can get there from the Long Island Expressway by taking exit 60 to Ronkonkoma Avenue and heading north. The entrance is on the Left.</p> <p>In an article describing the park, a <i>New York Times</i> writer once said Raynor, "has views of Lake Ronkonkoma from a 15-acre plateau, paved walking trails ... [a] veterans' memorial where the Memorial Day parade ends each year and a small section of beachfront on the lake, just across Lake Shore Road."</p> <p>The park was named after George Raynor, who in the 1920's, helped erect pavilions, picnic areas and other facilities for vacationers in the area.</p>
