This is where my '64 Malibu was checked out in '77 and I drove for the very first time on my own. The sisters at the Cenacle Retreat House had their cars serviced here and my Dad always brought the Cenacle's International truck to be serviced here. Charlie was a fine man to do business with--honest and dependable. Where have the years gone?

Personally, I think it is a shame the way Newton's Garage (Sam's) looks these days. It is a landmark and has not been cared for. I understand that the current owner may not have the financial means to paint the exterior in this economy, but when you drive by and look in the front window, it looks like a hoarder lives there. The front window is stacked with paper debris. I would love to see it cleaned up. I know nothing at all about the garage, just the looks.

Dates back to the 1920s. Classic establishment in terms of history in Lake Ronkonkoma. The Newton brothers started it. There are some unique photos of the brothers and their garage in the new photo history book about Lake Ronkonkoma published by Arcadia.

After reading the Lake Ronk book it is really a shame that the owners let it look like that! Just terrible!
