<p>Suffolk County government is the main body of government that handles the Sachem area, aside the Town of Brookhaven and Islip. </p> <p>Run by County Executive Steve Levy, a Sachem High School alum, the county is divided into 18 legislative districts, each represented by a legislator. As of 2010, there are nine democrats, six republicans, two members of the Independence Party of New York, and one legislator from the Working Families Party.</p> <p>The main county offices are located in the H. Lee Dennison Building on Veterans Memorial Highway in Hauppauge. </p>
