Rose Brucia Stranger Safety Awareness Week Coming in October 2012

Local politician helping to make this a reality next year.

Legislation is in the New York Assembly to declare the third week of October 2012 "Rose Brucia Stranger Safety Awareness Week,” according to foundation chairman Matthew J. Barbis.

New York State Assemblyman Al Graf is working with the state senate to declare it across the state next year. This year the foundation had success in declaring August 22, National Rose Brucia Stranger Safety Awareness Day.

“Establishing a stranger safety awareness week at the end of October every year will help remind parents and teachers to speak to their children actively and often about the dangers strangers may pose,” Barbis said. “The more often we speak with our children candidly, the better prepared they are for potentially dangerous situations.”
