PHOTOS: NBTY Stuffs 3,000 Backpacks In Back-To-School Initiative

Ronkonkoma-based company helps stock nonprofit groups with much-needed school supplies.

Yesterday, nutritional supplement manufacturer NBTY held a backpack stuffing event to help provide school supplies to needy children across Long Island. The event was held at NBTY's Ronkonkoma headquarters on Smithtown Avenue in an effort to stock inventory for Long Island Cares, Island Harvest and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

As , school supplies for students this year is expected to average around $125 per student. The backpack stuffing initiative was handled by NBTY's charitable arm, "Helping Hands."
