Non-profit Organizations in Sachem

A guide to many organizations doing wonderful things in this community.

Non-profit organizations are started without an aim to make a profit. Instead, they want to meet a goal, and aim towards bettering some aspect of the community. The Sachem community is not without its fair share of non-profit organizations working towards improving the district. The following list highlights just a fraction of the nonprofits at work in our neighborhoods today ... 

Farmingville

Farmingville Residents AssociationFRA was established in April of 2006 by a small group of residents hoping to improve the community of Farmingville. Our group is comprised of residents from all ethnicities and cultural communities working together for common goals.

Long Island Food Not Bombs: The aim of Food Not Bombs is to fight the social, economic and environmental oppressions that are inflicted upon our community and our planet.

Second Chance Wild Life Rescue Inc.Family operated, "Second Chance," aims to rehabilitate wildlife. They have a small volunteer staff of assistants that help in the rescue and care efforts of the rehabilitation division.

Holbrook

Anthony Gallo Memorial FundThe Anthony Gallo Memorial Fund was established in 2004. Their mission is to generate funds in an effort to aid various children's organizations throughout the New York Metropolitan area.

Higher Rock Ministries Inc.Higher Rock Ministries offers Christian Counseling and is dedicated to enriching people's lives through private counseling and educational seminars. 

Holbrook Chamber of Commerce Inc.The Holbrook Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer organization and is dedicated to the improvement of the business community in Holbrook.

Holbrook Hope Ministry Food Pantry: Located at The Christian Church at Holbrook on Broadway Avenue, it opens on the first Saturday of every month, offering non-perishable emergency food to ANYONE in the area experiencing a hardship.  Hours of operation are 2-4 p.m.  Please call Pastor Pete with any questions - 567-4777, holbrookchurch.org or stein1259@me.com.

Marianists For Long Island Family ExperienceThis international religious order of brothers and priests values equality, justice, education and reconciliation.

Narrow Way Ministries Inc.Narrow Way Ministries is an association of men and women of God who are of like precious faith created through genuine father and son relationships whom God supernaturally ordained at Narrow Way.

Sachem Talented And Gifted EducationThis program aims to identify those students who have specialized needs because they are gifted. A commitment to a more diverse instructional program is necessary to help them achieve the high performance of which they are capable.

Holtsville

Farmingville-Holtsville Chamber Of Commerce Inc. - The Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the cooperative efforts of the business and residential community toward the preservation of quality, character and vitality of Farmingville and Holtsville.

Holtsville Civic Association: The purpose of this organization shall be to establish, raise funds for and oversee operations of a non-profit agency available to the general public of the Town of Holtsville for family, youth and environment of that community.

Lake Grove

Fraternal Order Of PoliceAn organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States. According to the order, their five-cornered star symbol tends to, "remind us of the allegiance we owe to our Flag and is a symbol of the authority with which we are entrusted. It is an honor the people we serve bestow upon us."

Lake Ronkonkoma

Catholic Daughters of AmericaThe Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. They donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive "to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness."

Island Business Association Inc.Island Business Affiliates, Inc., is a group of 20 to 25 separate companies that have joined together to serve to community with accountants and lawyers, bankers and brokers, internet gurus and marketing professionals.

Long Island Liquid Waste Association Inc.The L.I.L.W.A introduced an aggressive certification program for member companies to ensure that their technicians meet certain minimum standards of knowledge, proficiency and skill. They designated representatives to meet regularly with the state and local officials that are responsible for issues relating to the septic services industry, and we a press liaison officer who is responsible for getting important information out to the general public.

Paul Anthony Lopez Memorial Scholarship FundEstablished in 2000, in order to fulfill one of Lopez's ambitions, his family and friends united to establish this scholarship, which is given to several college-bound, high school seniors who meet the scholarship academic criteria, demonstrate leadership and some financial need.

Lake Ronkonkoma Civic Organization: The Lake Ronkonkoma Civic Organization is a non-profit group of volunteers and concerned citizens whose mission is to improve the quality of life in Lake Ronkonkoma and neighboring areas.

Association For Information And Image Management InternationalAIIM is the leading non-profit organization focused on helping users to understand the challenges associated with managing documents, content, records, and business processes.

Chamber of Commerce of the Greater Ronkonomas: The Chamber was established for the purpose of promoting business, providing information, and to take a leadership role in promoting community pride.

Catholic War VeteransFor almost 75 years the CWV together with their Auxiliary have been engaged in actively supporting our nation's military veterans and promoting their welfare.

International Order Of The Rainbow GirlsRainbow Girls is an organization that strives to give girls the tools, training, and encouragement to find their individuality through activities and travel.

National League Of American Pen Women Inc.With 135 branches throughout the country, the league is a community of professional artists, writers, poets, composers, and arrangers who believe in the power of words, art, and music to illuminate the human experience, fire the imagination, and nurture the soul.
