Lesko Announces Opening of Nomination Period for the Brookhaven Youth Bureau 2011 Volunteer Awards

Honorees will be recognized at the Bureau's Thirty-First Annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony.

The Town of Brookhaven’s Youth Bureau and the Brookhaven Youth Board are seeking nominations for individuals and groups who deserve recognition for volunteer work with Brookhaven’s young people, the Town said in a release this week.

The honorees will be recognized at the Bureau’s Thirty-First Annual Volunteer Awards Ceremony on May 11.

“For the past 30 years, the Youth Bureau has recognized over 500 individuals and groups for the time, energy,and resources they have devoted to assisting our young people,” said Supervisor Mark Lesko in a statement. “Those who willbe honored this year will join a very prestigious group of people whose commitment to the Brookhaven community has made a significant impact and improved the quality of life for so many of our residents.”

If you know someone who you believe should be recognized for his or her efforts, either individually or asa group, please call or write to the Youth Bureau for a nomination form. Requests for forms are now being accepted. The form must be returned to the Youth Bureau by April 15, 2011.
