East Softball Collects $1,400 for Wojciechowski Family

Members of the softball team held a car wash in Farmingville on Saturday.

The Sachem East softball team dominated on the field last week, winning three games, including against Sachem North, but its biggest victory likely came on Saturday.

Members of East's varsity and JV softball teams held a car wash at the Applebee's in Farmingville to raise money for the Wojciechowski family. The home of Mark Wojciechowski, the head football coach at East and a teacher at North, was destroyed in a last Wednesday.

The girls raised nearly $1,400 for the Wojciechowski family during the car wash, according to Samantha Marrone, a member of the varsity squad.

The Girl Scouts are running a collection for the Wojciechowski family at from 6-7:30 p.m. on Monday. Donations of clothing with be accepted, but the scouts are also asking people to bring other items: books, toys, gift cards, etc. Checks can be written out to Troop 511 and will go to the family.
