East Football Creates PSA for Town of Brookhaven

Promotes recycling as part of Keep Brookhaven Clean program.

The Sachem East football team has learned a great deal about community service over the last few seasons under the guidance of head coach Brian Harvey and his staff.

Through a program Harvey calls, "Leadership Through Service," his team participates in various activities around the community that show the football team's efforts fall far beyond the field.

Last week the team was honored by Town of Brookhaven as part of a Public Service Announcement program promoting recycling and keeping Brookhaven clean.

"The PSA was produced by the players," Harvey said. "They acted, filmed, wrote the script and did a great job overall."

The PSA was 60 seconds and appeared on the Public Access channel.

"With technology at their fingertips, they do amazing things," Harvey said. "The resources here at school are unbelievable."

East football has also read to elementary students, taken part in numerous fundraiser walks and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house last year, among many other things.

"It's great," Harvey said. "We get everyone involved."
