Campaign Supporting Murdered Ronkonkoma Vet's Family Nears Goal

Campaign is $2,000 from $12K goal.

A crowdfunding campaign to support the family of Sgt. Ryan F. Dickinson, a retired Army sergeant from Ronkonkoma who was murdered in September, is about $2,000 from its goal of $12,000 as of this writing.

Dickinson was shot to death at age 26 at the Fort Hood Army base in Fort Hood, Texas over Labor Day weekend, and is survived by his wife, Heather, and children, Luke and Nevaeh.

In lieu of flowers, the GoFundMe campaign asks for small donations to Ryan’s wife and children. According to the page, which is managed by Ryan’s friend Samm Wenner, the family has since moved from Texas to Long Island.

“The next few weeks, months, years will be difficult for the Dickinson's so we are asking to help support them through monetary donations in order to help them get by,” the page says. “Obviously no amount of money will feel sufficient in order to portray the love you have for Ryan and the loss you are feeling in your hearts, but believe me, any amount will be greatly appreciated.”
