Local Sayville organization hosts Sachem secondary students for a day in the sun.

On July 27th organizers held its ninth annual Wet Pants/Sachem Share Day, a full day out on the bay where students from the Sachem Extended School Year summer program get a chance to meet with peers and volunteers to help break down social and physical barriers.

The day features games, ice-cream, fishing, crabbing and boat rides courtesy of the Wet Pants Sailing Association in Sayville. The program is in its ninth year and continues to gather approximately 100 attendees.

"This event is one of the highlights of our summer, both for our juniors, and for the Sachem students," stated Katie Taylor, one of the event coordinators. "I am blessed to be connected to both of these groups, and hear all school year about how this day was the best experience of many a student’s summer."
