More than 900 runners showed up for a 4-mile to honor the memory of Patchogue's Lt. Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who was killed in action in Afghanistan seven years ago today.
Last Saturday's event was organized by the Rotary Club of the Ronkonkomas and marked their 28th Annual run around the lake. Money raised for the event went to the Michael P. Murphy Scholarship Foundation.
Murphy was killed in Aghanistan on June 28, 2005. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions on that day.
