Long Island performers need a cheerleader

Putting a spotlight on entertainers that deserve recognition. Stand-up comedians, actors, producers and musicians have a huge hill to climb to be recognized. It seems impossible without a budget.

Long Island offers a plethora of live entertainment geared towards any age group. You can find music, theater, or comedy just about anywhere. Local bars, restaurants, storefront theaters. However, only the venues that can afford to advertise receive the most attention from the general public. The alternate places garner audience from the self promotional efforts of the performers on the show. The result is a sparse audience filled with family and friends of the performers.

Eventually, these performers run out of people to bring and some sadly quit. I know this because I have been in this situation. As a comedian for over 20 years and an actor/producer on Long Island, I know too well how hard it is to keep going without a budget.

If there was only some way to champion these struggling artists without them needing to spend money and eventually fade away into obscurity.

So, in the weeks to come, I intend to put the spotlight on various up and coming comedians, actors, film makers, etc.
