Comedy To Go, Inc. Finds The Funny in Recovery

Uniondale native, ex-Marine, recovering addict, comedian Keith Richard is making himself known as a leading producer of comedy shows on Long Island. Along with friends, comedian Mike Parenti, and businessman Brian Cohen, Keith runs Comedy To Go, Inc. with more than just the purpose of putting on shows. They focus on full entertainment shows with local comedians and some of the best headliners around. Comedy To Go isn’t just about your typical comedy night. A second division of his company www.recoverycomic.com was inspired by the late Mike DeStefano, who passed a few years ago. They perform comedy shows for recovering addicts. The slogan is “when you begin to laugh you begin to heal”. Who would have thought comedy had such a high purpose? 

Keith and Mike started out as regular comics and after taking a class with established comedian, Carrie Karavas, they stayed in the comedy circuit. Eventually they found their way into producing through running open mic nights, connecting with other local comics, and developing friendships and relationships with a variety of venues. Of course there have been pitfalls along the way, which holds true with any growing business, but they have strengthened their shows, improved their roster of talent and are now a force to be reckoned with.  Aside from the recovery element, they have been fortunate to produce a show at The Tilles Center with Jackie Mason, and are holding a huge event for The Lions Club at The Patchogue Theater Saturday April 20th.

Keith explains “our mission is to provide humor in any environment, in any way possible. We have the equipment needed, provide a high level of talent and produce a quality show. Leaving the client looking like a hero for hiring us”. Brian Cohen has introduced them to a new level by incorporating networking with local business leaders. Combining marketing through a comedy event and proving that funny business can also be smart business.

The goal for Comedy To Go, Inc. is to make a difference with laughter. I would say they are on the right track.
