Tiffany Yovino to Have Soccer Jersey Number 18 Retired at Hofstra

Sachem alum becomes second player in Pride women's soccer history to grab honor.

Sachem alum and former Hofstra women's soccer standout and current assistant coach Tiffany Yovino will have her No. 18 jersey retired this Saturday night at halftime of the Pride men's soccer contest against UNC Wilmington.

Yovino, a Holtsville, N.Y. native, an All-American in 2010, will be just the second women’s soccer player at Hofstra to have her uniform retired, joining Sue Weber (No. 20 in 2008).

In her four years with the Pride, Yovino started in all 83 games in the midfield and was a part of more wins than any other player in school history (58). Her career record with the Pride was an impressive 58-21-4, and she had a key role in the two winningest seasons in school history, as well as both of the program's NCAA Tournament wins.

She had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Connecticut in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament, the program’s second-ever NCAA victory, and also started as a freshman in a 1-0 win over Ohio State in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.

Yovino recorded 50 career points on 21 goals and eight assists. She became the first Hofstra player to win CAA Player of the Year honors in 2010, and in 2011 was the first Hofstra student-athlete to earn a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
