Week 2 Preview: Sachem East vs. Pat-Med

Flaming Arrows look to bounce back after season opening loss at Central Islip.

Patchogue-Medford plays in Sachem again this week, this time at Sachem East. Both teams bring 0-1 records into the contest. East lost to tenth-seeded Central Islip, while the Raiders lost at North.

With countless areas to improve on for both sides, this game could be interesting. Patchogue can't stand the taste of losing to Sachem, especially twice in a row. Sachem would very much like to erase last week's defeat and not start the season in an 0-2 hole.

Game time: 6 p.m.

In-game battles: Both teams are not very explosive, so it's a battle of the small things. Individual plays, key blocks, and the intangibles ... that's how this game will be won. Look for QB/DB Kevin Gerard and TE/DE Chris Makulik to make a mild difference for the Raiders again this week, though they were basically invisible against North in Week 1. Expect Sachem running back Steven Casali to have a better game in just his second appearance with the varsity.
