Updated Kaz Film to Air on Television

Legendary Sachem basketball player gives recent interview about documentary and career.

It’s been 10 years since the documentary about Sachem basketball legend Nicole Kaczmarski called “Running Down A Dream” was released.

MSG Varsity will air the piece, Sunday, August 7 at 7:30 p.m. with new footage of Kaczmarski being interviewed and reacting to the film.

"The viewing of 'Running Down a Dream' was a bittersweet experience,” said Kaczmarski in a statement.  “I was able to re-live some of the best moments of my playing career. It's easy to lose sight of what an incredible time in my life it was. I will always appreciate all the places I've gone and the relationships I've established as a result."

Written and directed by Leandra Reilly Lardner, the wife of MSG Varsity Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Michael Lardner, the documentary chronicled one of the most heavily recruited players in the history of high school sports.

“It was an interesting perspective to sit with Nicole over a decade later and look back at such a storied career of one of Long Island’s most decorated athletes,” said Leandra Reilly Lardner in a statement. “She provided a very introspective and enlightening commentary about an extremely compelling time of her life.”

Last year Kaczmarski, who graduated from Sachem in 1999 and is one of the most celebrated athletes in school history, started working as an analyst for MSG Varsity’s coverage of high school basketball and this summer she turned in her first performance as a reporter, covering a mini-camp session at Sachem High School North, her former stomping ground.
