Tough Friday For Sachem Sports

Despite loss, East's Kathleen Everson reaches 1,000 point mark.

Both Sachem East and Sachem North boys and girls basketball was in action on Friday night, but both schools suffered some tough losses on the hardwood.

The Sachem North boys varsity squad dropped a close game to second-place Central Islip 67-60 in overtime. The Arrows were six seconds away from upsetting Central Islip until Brandon Hodge sunk a three-pointer to tie it. For Sachem North, Nakhari Nelson led the scoring on the day with 21 points.

The Sachem East boys squad also dropped a close game to Commack, 59-52. Jesse Condon put up 19 points on the day, but the Arrows came up short down the stretch. 

The Sachem East girls team also dropped its game to rival Commack by a score of 57-47. However, one highlight of the game was Kathleen Everson, who notched her 1,000th point in her high school career. Everson, who committed to play at Bryant University when she graduates, joined Katie Doherty in the 1,000 point club. 

The Sachem North Boys Bowling team also dropped its match against Floyd, 3-0.
