The game is played every year to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis and is part of the Boomer Esiason Foundation's many charitable efforts. Sachem athletic director Pete Blieberg is the main leader behind the game and has been a representative of the BEF for many years. This game is an annual event that pins the best players in Long Island against the top players in New York City.

Practices for the Long Island squad will be held at Sachem High School North this summer prior to the game, which will take place at Hofstra University June 21.
