This Week’s Basketball Action In Sachem

The Sachem East and Sachem North varsity basketball squads are in action these next few days as both the boys and girls teams look to improve their records in the early season.

For the Sachem East boys, they’ll be looking to improve to 2-1  when they host Longwood in a league contest on Friday at 5:45 p.m. The East Arrows are 1-1 coming off a 61-54 loss to Connetquot on Dec. 10. After Longwood, East will travel to Commack to take on the Cougars on Dec. 19 at 5:45 p.m.  

For the Sachem North boys they hope to get into the win column on Friday night when they travel to Bay Shore for a league contest at 6 p.m. North is 0-2 to start the season, losing to Sachem East and dropping its road game to William Floyd 62-44 last night. After Friday’s game North will host Walt Whitman on Dec. 17 at 5:45 p.m.

The Sachem North girls, however, are on a roll: a 2-0 start and they’ll host Bay Shore tonight at 5:45 p.m. Then they’ll head to Bellport on Saturday at 11 a.m. for a non-league matchup against the Clippers.

The Sachem East girls have a 1-1 overall record, most recently defeating Copiague last Saturday. On Friday they head to Longwood for a league contest at 4 p.m. After that, they host Commack on Dec. 19 at 6:15 p.m.

Last week, Patch was at the now-traditional North vs. East boy’s basketball game, where the Sachem North football team unveiled its Long Island Championship banner. Included in this story are some photos of that game.
