The Dalton Crossan File: Syracuse Offers

Orange, which already has a strong recruiting class from Long Island for 2012, looks to add Sachem's star.

Syracuse University has officially offered Dalton Crossan a chance to play football for the Orange, according to the Sachem North senior.

Crossan has now been offered by Syracuse, Stony Brook and C.W. Post for football. He also has received offers for lacrosse from Stony Brook, Hofstra and the University of Detroit Mercy.

Crossan said he is still in close contact with Buffalo, Boston College, the University of Massachusetts, Villanova, Delaware, Princeton, New Hampshire for football, as well as Notre Dame and a few others for lacrosse.

According to Syracuse.com, the Orange have 16 commitments in place from the Class of 2012.

"I think it is a number of different things," said Syracuse assistant Greg Adkins in an interview on the "On the Block" show on The Score 1260 in Syracuse this week. "I think it is across the board. You look across the country, it is a trend right now. The process of recruiting has sped up so much. I heard a figure the other day that somewhere around 300 kids in the month of June committed to some Division I school."

Among the many recruits are Long Island natives Davonte McFarlane (Hills West) and Omari Palmer (Longwood).
