Suffolk County Quarterfinals Preview: No. 6 Sachem East at No. 3 West Islip

Arrows playing in second post-season game in school history.

West Islip and Sachem East met once already this year and the Lions ruined Sachem's homecoming festivities with a 37-6 win in Week 6.

Sachem East, playing in its first post-season since 2008, rallied to make the playoffs this year after going 1-15 the last two seasons. This is a new setting for the Arrows, who didn't only qualify for the playoffs, but are ranked No. 6.

The problem is having to play No. 3 West Islip, who is one of the hottest teams in Division I with a 7-1 record. Granted, most of the wins have come against average or lower ranked opponents in the division, but they've played marvelously thus far. They ended their regular season with a 41-0 win over Northport.

Time/Venue: Saturday, November 5 at 2:30 p.m./West Islip High School

In game battles: West Islip's only chore is to shutdown Steve Casali, stop him and they'll win the game. Sachem East, however, will have its hands full any number of threats in the air and on the ground: Anthony Santo, Nick Aponte, Ryan Weiczorek, etc.

Next up: The winner of this game will play in the Suffolk County Division I semifinals next week. Dates and times are still yet to be determined since the seedings restructure after this round.

Stay tuned to Sachem Patch for complete coverage of the game.
