Stats Updated, Crossan Sets Single-Season Rushing Record at Sachem

Official stats show senior is No. 1 with 2,186 yards.

The numbers are in. Dalton Crossan officially set the single-season rushing record at Sachem this year with 2,186 yards, beating James O'Neal's mark set in 1995 by 1 yard.

The Sachem coaching staff officially reviewed all film and updated their 2011 statistic sheets this week, notifying Crossan of the honor.

Crossan now has 4,214 career yards in four varsity seasons split between Shoreham-Wading River and Sachem North. At Sachem he rushed for 3,170 yards in two seasons, ranking second all-time behind O'Neal (3,786).

"I'm proud of our team and the way we played, considering how young we were and how many injuries we had," Crossan said. "We would have loved to win a championship, but it's definetly cool to beat the record. I know how many great players played here at Sachem."

The 17 additional yards compared to what Patch reported last week slightly improve his Suffolk County and Long Island rankings as well. Crossan ranks No. 10 all-time in Suffolk County history in rushing yards and No. 11 in Long Island history.
