For years, both Sachem Youth Sports and the Sachem Athletic Club produced some of the finest athletes in the district's history. Now, they'll combine, creating the new Sachem Sports Club.
"It is our goal to bring our 35-plus years experience of providing the best football and lacrosse programs in Sachem back to the forefront," a statement from Sachem Youth Sports said. "With our experienced coaches and dedicated volunteers Sachem Sports Club will be one of the largest youth football, lacrosse and cheerleading program on Long Island."
The statement went on to say that the football program will, "offer our children the best opportunity to play within the same age group and level of experience in a safe and fun environment."
Sachem Sports Club will have a vast in-house program featuring four age groups (5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12) with five teams in each division. They will continue the tradition of playing P.A.L. travel football with teams offered in each age group (7,8,9,10,11,12,13).
As for lacrosse, Sachem Sports Club offers that sport to boys K-6 and girls pre-K-8. Cheerleading will be brought to a new level because the new club will have in-house cheerleaders, travel cheerleaders and competition teams.
Sachem Sports Club's practice and game fields are located at the P.A.L. Sports Complex, located on Furrows Road in Holtsville. Their complex provides three lighted fields, bleachers, indoor bathrooms and a snack bar. They also have a new state of the art artificial turf field.
"We look forward to providing the youth of Sachem a fun, safe and competitive place to play sports, teaching our young athletes sportsmanship, teamwork and community spirit as well as continuing to be the best feeder program for the Sachem School District," the statement said.
