Sachem Well-Represented at NCAA Lax Tournaments

Division I, II and III stacked with former Sachem players.

Through the years a handful of former Sachem athletes have competed in NCAA tournaments for their respective sports. On Sunday night the NCAA men's lacrosse tournament bracket pairings were announced and many Sachem alumni will be representing the Red, Black & Gold in May Madness for the next couple weeks.

Division I

Joe Amplo, Hofstra, assistant coach ... Hofstra (9-4) will play the University of Maryland in the first round next Saturday on the road.

Pat Perritt, Syracuse, student coach ... No. 2 Syracuse (13-1) will host Army Sunday night, May 16. Perritt was a member of the last two National Championship teams at Syracuse, which has won 10 titles in 16 tries since the tournament was created in 1971.

Division II

Semifinal competition is scheduled for Saturday, May 22.

-North Region: C.W. Post (14-1) vs. Dowling (12-1)

-Central/South Regions: Le Moyne (14-1) vs. Limestone (12-1)

Division III

Bryan Petillo, Tufts player (North) ... Tufts (16-1) received a first round bye and will host the winner of Montclair-Endicott May 22.

The Division I semifinal and championship games, and the Division II and III championship games, will be held at M & T Bank Stadium in Baltimore May 29-31. The Division I semifinals will be televised live on ESPN2 starting at 4 p.m. Eastern time, May 29. The championship game will be televised live on ESPN starting at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, May 31. Lacrosse and rowing are the only two NCAA sports that host all three championship games at the same common site on the same day.
