Sachem To Play William Floyd in County Final

Makes for rematch from last year's championship.

Sachem has a chance to go on the ultimate revenge quest next Friday.

The top-seeded Flaming Arrows will officially play No. 2 William Floyd in the Suffolk County Division I championship, a rematch of last year's game in which Sachem lost, 27-6, at Stony Brook University.

Sachem (10-0) beat No. 5 Northport, 42-21, Friday night. Floyd (8-2), who lost to Sachem once already this season, beat Longwood, 26-22, in the other semifinal Saturday afternoon.

The Colonials have appeared in eight county finals, all since 1998. They have won six county championships and three Long Island titles. Sachem has appeared in 14 county finals in its history and has won six - it's most recent in 1995, the same year the Arrows made their first and only appearance in the Long Island Championship.

Cipp ties record: Sachem alum and Bellport football head coach captured career victory 209, tying him with former Comsewogue head coach Tom Cassese as the all-time Suffolk County wins leader. Bellport will play East Islip in the Suffolk County Division IV title game next week.

Glenn, Shanahan, Fusaro advance: John Glenn beat Mount Sinai in the Division IV Suffolk County semifinals, allowing head coach and Sachem alum Dave Shanahan and former Sachem coaching legend to advance to the county final next week against Babylon. Mount Sinai is coached by Sachem alum Vinny Ammirato.
