A look at some action from Sachem North and East on the sports fields:

Sachem North Boys Soccer: Last week Sachem’s Boys Soccer team went 0-2. On Monday, Sachem hosted Brentwood. After scoring three first-half goals, Brentwood would go on to extend its amazing streak of 28 straight games without a loss to 29 games. Brian Armstrong had five saves and Vincent Formato had three saves as Sachem would fall to 0-6-1 on the season. On Wednesday, Sachem hosted Commack. Armstrong had seven saves, but surrendered two goals as Sachem went goalless again falling 2-0. The team would drop to 0-7-1 on the year. Next week, the Sachem will host Sachem East and Patchogue-Medford. They will also travel to Ward Melville as they continue their fight for a first win.

Sachem North Girls Soccer: This week Sachem’s Girls Soccer team went 2-0. Last Tuesday, Sachem hosted Patchogue-Medford. With goals from Jessica Mazliah, Emily Jones, and Leah Vasquez, her first Varsity goal, Sachem prevailed 3-0. Ashlee Thompson, Justine Trainor, and Devin McMahon each added an assist. Goalie Erin McNulty had six saves to earn the shutout, helping Sachem to improve to 7-1. On Thursday, Sachem hosted William Floyd on senior night. McNulty had five saves and Leanna Curcio scored the lone goal of the contest to help Sachem win 1-0 and improve to 8-1 on the season. This week, Sachem will host Commack, Longwood, and travel to Brentwood as they look to reach 11 wins and continue their great year.

Sachem North Girls Volleyball: This week Sachem’s girls volleyball team split its two matches. On Tuesday, Sachem hosted William Floyd. Nicole Dale had nine kills, Danielle Levine had 15 kills and three aces, and Niki Nevola added 22 assists and three aces. Sachem took three straight games by scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-14. The girls improved to 5-4 on the season. On Wednesday, Sachem traveled to Connetquot. Sachem fell in three straight games, 25-20, 25-18, and 25-13. Connetquot improved to 6-3 as North fell to .500 at 5-5. This week, Sachem will travel to Commack and Walt Whitman. They will also host Longwood on senior night as they look to move back above .500 on the season.

Sachem North Boys Volleyball: This past Columbus Day week, the boys varsity volleyball team had a tough week, most notably a game with their archrival foe Sachem East in a home game. They lost the game 3-1. A day before North’s game against  Sachem East, John Eckel, a junior, felt very good about his chances of playing and enthusiastically exclaimed, “be back tomorrow ready to go” versus East.  Cahill was quoted before the showdown against East saying, "I feel confident for the upcoming game because of our team’s performance against East last time, although we can’t underestimate them”.

Sachem East Boys Soccer: Sachem East boys varsity soccer won a tight matchup against Commack last week. The score was a 1-0 double-overtime win thanks to a late goal by Ansel Ueshiro. They also improved to 10-0 with other big wins during the week. Sachem coach Matt Stallone said Andrew Tinari and the defense have been keys to their recent success.
