Sachem Prepares for Battle Against Floyd

Teams ready to duke it out at Stony Brook Sunday.

The players are ready. The coaches are ready. The parents and fans are ready and I'm ready. Sunday's Suffolk County Division I championship can't come soon enough. (Congrats to Stony Brook football on a fine victory, by the way! Their game on Saturday pushed Sachem's game back to Sunday).

Sachem held its final walk through before the championship Saturday at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium. It concluded a week of invigorating practice at multiple locations from Stony Brook on Tuesday to KK Athletics in Farmingville on Wednesday and Thursday.

Saturday night Sachem assistant coach Joe Cannone wore his military combat helmet to signify the battle Sachem will have to endure to be victorious come Sunday evening. The helmet was Cannone's from when he served in the United States Marine Corp.

Get ready for a well-played and exciting football game. Sachem fans have waited another full year for this moment, to get revenge for defeat in 2009 and especially in 2010 as players and coaches left it all on the field. The sulking feeling after that game was miserable, something no one should endure. The positive, it made players and coaches stronger and work harder to get back to this point and capitalize on the opportunity that lies ahead on the turf at LaValle Stadium.

If you're out of town and can't make the game, Sachem Patch has you covered, as usual. You can follow our LIVE BLOG on the site starting at 3:30 p.m. with a kickoff set for 4 p.m. You can also follow our LIVE Twitter updates @SachemPatch.

When its championship season, Sachem Patch does not sleep. We want to work just as hard as the players and coaches do in Sachem, so the entire community can see it all right here ... Sachem Patch, Where Your Hometown is Our Hometown!
