Sachem Patch Youth Sports Notebook

See how the youth of Sachem is doing each week.

In a battle for the No. 1 seed going into the playoffs the Sachem 11-year old Warriors defeated the Massapequa Mustangs, 8-6, last weekend.

The two teams went at each other all day trading blows like heavyweight fighters. The game was scoreless until the fourth quarter when the Mustangs connected on a long pass giving themselves a 6-0 lead with eight minutes to play.

The Warriors quickly regrouped and went right to work moving the ball down field. With 2:20 left to play, quarterback Ryan S., behind great protection from the offensive line – Mike C., Devin P., John G., Jake W., Dominick M., Ryan V. – showed tremendous poise hitting receiver Logan V. who took it 43 yards for the tying score behind a big block from Dylan L.

Logan then added the kick to take the lead, and win. The defense then closed the door on the Mustangs to seal the victory.

For the second straight year the Warriors enter the playoffs as the top seed.
