Sachem Patch Athletes of the Week

A spotlight on the best of the best in Sachem.

The following athletes had exceptional weeks on the field at Sachem High Schools East and North:

Sachem East

Lisa Luchsinger: In her second consecutive pick as Sachem Patch Athlete of the Week, the Purdue-bound Luchsinger makes the list for qualifying for states in both the 100-meter and the 200-meter, with respective times of 12.37 (first place) and 25.67 seconds (second place).

Melanie Notarstefano: Qualified for states after winning the 1,500-meter run Saturday at the Section XI qualifying meet. She narrowly edged out Rachel Paul by recording a time of 4:42.18. As if that wasn't enough, hours later she helped East take second in the 4x800 relay.

Rachel Paul: She placed second and qualified for states in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.17. She also qualified for states with a time of 4:42:41 in the 1,500-meter run.

Sachem North

Davon Christopher: He ran the 200-meter event in 22.91 seconds to make the finals in the Suffolk County state qualifying track meet. Christopher competed in two other events for North during the sweltering Friday afternoon at Port Jefferson High School, including the 4X400-meter relay that finished in 3:31.68 and the 4X100-meter relay that finished in 44.97 seconds.

Connor Dolan:  He came out in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:46.12 at the state qualifying meet - one second off his personal best.
