Sachem Patch Athletes and Teams of the Week

Top players, teams honored by Sachem Patch every Sunday.

The following athletes had exceptional weeks on the field at Sachem High School East and North:

Sachem East

Lisa Luchsinger: The Purdue-bound Luchsinger won the triple jump (33-2 1/2), 200-meters (26.2) and long jump (17-11) to lead East in an 83-68 win over Longwood last Tuesday.

Pete Lacagnina: As Lacagnina's game heats up down the stretch, so does East's entire team. He scored four goals in East's 12-5 win over West Babylon last Tuesday. He also scored three goals in Saturday's loss to Smithtown East.

Jessica Pandolf: The senior scored four goals and added two assists to break the 200 point marker for her career in North's 12-11 win over East Islip Friday night. She now has 202 career points (146 goals). To read more about the game, check out Patch's story. Earlier in the week she also had four goals and two assists in a win over Ward Melville.

Michael Andreassi: Michael Andreassi had four goals and two assists, including career goal No. 100 in North's 19-7 win over Longwood last Thursday. He now has 102 career goals and 32 assists.

Team honors

Sachem East Boys Tennis: Aside from a minor skid in a loss to Patchogue-Medford on Friday, the boys tennis team at East has put together an impressive 8-2 record thus far. This week East picked up a huge 4-3 win over Westhampton and beat Comsewogue convincingly, 6-1. In the Westhampton match, Jason Quintana won at first singles, Zach Cooper at second, Dylan Quintana at third and Alex Rosenfield at fourth, each in straight sets. On Saturday, East meat Mt. Sinai also.

Sachem North Boys Golf: North (10-2) has won its last five matches on the golf course. After losing to Kings Park on April 20, the boys put together a string of victories against  Sachem East, Comsewogue, Hauppauge, Middle Country and Miller Place. "The top six are making this happen," said coach Anthony Falco last week. William Ruth, Travis Nardello, Kevin Lehmann, Mike Ortiz, Chris Roden, Matt Adwar, Rob McCusker have all been on the top of their games for weeks now.

Special recognition

Mia Carroll won the discus with a career-high 100-3 and Joanna Staniewski won the shotput with a career-high 31-9.5 for North girls track last week.
