Sachem North Wrestling Crowns Two League Champs

Sachem North crowed two league champions Saturday.

Sean O Hagan (103) and Michael McCarthy (215) won titles, while multiple place winners qualified for the county finals.

"We were prepared, worked very hard for today, and we did our best," said Sachem North wrestling coach Ray Pickersgill.

Some of the highlights for Sachem North was Michael Downer, who went from not being seeded to placing fourth at 140 pounds, and James Schreck, who defeated two wrestlers he previously lost to.

Other Sachem North place winners:

• Matt Stallone- 4th Place, 96 lbs.
• Alec Ross- 4th Place, 112 lbs.
• Frank Napoli- 2nd Place, 119 lbs.
• David Johnson- 4th Place, 125 lbs.
• Franky Blais- 4th Place, 130 lbs.
• Nick Ianello- 2nd Place, 140 lbs.
• James Schreck- 3rd Place, 152 lbs.
• Vin Provenzano- 3rd Place, 160 lbs.
• Vin Fragle- 4th Place, 160 lbs.
• Anthony Marino- 3rd Place, 171 lbs.
• Gio Santiago- 3rd Place, 189 lbs.
• Anthony Confessore- 2nd Place, 285 lbs.

Sachem North also came in second place for the team championship, falling behind Connetquot with 243 points.  Sachem North will be participating in the county tournament at Stony Brook University on Feb. 13 and 14.
