In the second Great American rivalry matchup of this season, Sachem North tops Northport 42-12 Friday night at the former's field in Lake Ronkonkoma in the qualifying round of the playoffs.
Sachem North took an early lead with two touchdowns from Malik Pierre before Northport made the board with a touchdown in the first quarter. Sachem North then got touchdowns from Chris Biryla, Kevin Bragaglia, and another from Pierre.
Northport earned a second touchdown in the second half but Pierre scored his fourth touchdown of the night for Sachem.
Sachem coach Dave Falco said that Pierre is an "absolute warrior."
"Big time players play big in big time games," Falco said.
Falco said that after enjoying the win his team will be going back to for next week's game which will be determined based on Saturday's remaining qualifying games.
Northport coach Kip Lukralle said that the team fought all year and it was tough to lose at the qualifying round.
"I Feel So bad for this group of 38 seniors," Lukralle said.
Sachem North's next game will either be next Friday or next Saturday.
