Sachem North Tops Farmingdale for First LI Championship

Sachem North scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter en route to a 27-21 victory Saturday to capture the Long Island championship against Farmingdale.

After Vinny Quinn ran one into the end zone from 5-yards out, Sachem responded with a Malik Pierre 1-yard touchdown scamper. Farmingdale recaptured the lead when Tom Kennedy returned a kick 94 yards to give the Dalers a 14-7 lead at the end of the first.

Curtis Jenkins added an 8-yard run to give Farmingdale a 21-7 lead, but Sachem responded. Trent Crossan ran it in from 3-yards out to cut the deficit to 21-14. Then, Bryan Morris kicked a field goal to cut the lead to four.

Defense took over after that. Malik Pierre blocked a punt, which led to a Farmingdale safety. With Sachem trailing by two, Crossan had a 15-yard touchdown run to give Sachem North its first ever Long Island championship.
