Sachem North Opens with Non-League Win Over Kings Park

Flaming Arrows start season with 11-9 win in girl's lacrosse.

The Sachem North girl’s lacrosse team opened its season with an 11-9 victory over Kings Park in a non-league contest Monday afternoon.

Nicole Dale scored five goals and added one assist, Katherine Avanzato had a career-high three goals, and Erin McNulty had 16 saves to lead Sachem.  

After trailing 7-6, Sachem went on a 3-0 scoring run led by two Dale tallies and a great free position mark Avanzato making the score 10-7.

Kings Park scores two late goals, sandwiching a late Sachem tally making the final 11-9.

"I am very proud the overall team effort today,” said Sachem coach Ed Manly. “Anytime you can start your season 1-0 it's a great feeling. Our seniors really stepped up big time. Nicole Dale on offense, Erin McNulty in the cage, and Mel Kahn quarterbacking the defense, I couldn’t be more pleased."

Sachem’s next game is Friday at home against Walt Whitman for their Division I opener.
