Sachem North LAX Player Commits To Stony Brook

Anthony Ross will head to Stony Brook with two other teammates.

Sachem North Varsity Boy's Lacrosse player Anthony Ross has announced he will be attending Stony Brook University when he graduates from Sachem in 2014.

The incoming senior defender will be playing alongside Class of 2014 players Joe Caridi and faceoff specialist Mike Calvagna who are also joining the Seawolves as freshman in 2014.

Ross is a two-sport athlete at Sachem North. The senior carries the ball for the Flaming Arrows football team, but was sidelined most of last season with a leg injury. According to Lacrosse Coach Jay Mauro, Ross will not be playing football for the Seawolves.

“I chose Stony Brook for their academics,” Ross said in an interview with LaxLessons.com. “I have a good feeling about Coach [Jim] Nagle and his program and the recruiting Class of 2014 is very talented. I think the program is on the rise.”

The Stony Brook Lacrosse team is a D-1 squad that went 7-9 last season for the America East Conference. The team will be relying on Ross' defensive skills to keep the ball on the other side of the field this coming season.

"Anthony is a stud athlete with a great motor,” Mauro stated in the same article. “He is a diligent worker and the energy he brings to our team is contagious. He continues to improve and his best lacrosse is ahead of him. We have a pipeline with Stony Brook because it is a great university academically and athletically.”
