Sachem North Lacrosse Off-Season Notes

A look at what's happened since the 2010 regular season ended.

The regular season may have ended abruptly for Sachem lacrosse, but it was back to business the next day and on with the off-season.

The varsity participated in the Lehigh Lacrosse Fest in the Elite Division and went 4-1, losing in the title game.

“It was a great way to start the season,” said Sachem coach Jay Mauro.

They’ll compete again this weekend at the Long Island Lacrosse Fest. 

Iannello hired as GA at Wagner

Sachem alum and recent Bryant grad Anthony Iannello was hired as a graduate assistant coach at Division I Wagner in Staten Island.

“He’s a great kid who I believe will be a great coach,” Mauro said. “He will be diligent in whatever path he chooses, but I truly believe coaching is what he is meant to do.” 

Gamblin, Andreassi selected for U.S. All-American Showcase

Sachem seniors Michael Andreassi and Brandon Gamblin were selected for the U.S. Lacrosse All-American Showcase game in Orlando.

Only five kids from the county were selected to attend and 96 in the nation.

Andreassi, who has been nursing an elbow injury and is headed to play at UMass along with Gamblin, confirmed he will play in that game, which takes place in late August.
