Sachem North Gridiron Players Selected As All-Stars

Two Sachem North MVPs of the 2011 Varsity football season will get another chance to play on the field together. and , the offensive and defensive MVPs, respectively were selected to the Long Island squad of the 15th annual United Healthcare Empire Challenge high school football all-star game. 

Crossan capped off his record-setting season this past fall with a Hansen Award he shared with William Floyd's Stacey Bedell, becoming only the fourth player in Sachem history to win the Hansen. Provenzano was a First Team All-Long Island selection this year, and received Sachem's Black Helmet award in addition to Defensive MVP. 

The top 100 football players from around the Island and New York City were selected to play in the game, which will kick off June 19 at 7 p.m. at Hofstra's Shuart Stadium.

The game is the brainchild of for NFL star and East Islip native Boomer Esiason. It benefits the Boomer Esiason Foundation in its fight against cystic fibrosis, contributes to the Gunnar H. Esiason Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hofstra, and supports youth and high school football in the New York metropolitan area.
