Sachem scored points in mid-meet events that began to turn the tide against Ward Melville. Eighth grader Mackenzie Coleman’s third place run in the 800 prevented a Ward Melville sweep in the event. Emily Rathmann’s third place in the 200 in the next event as she chased down three Patriot rivals coming off the turn in the half-lapper giving Sachem a sweep.

Nikki Fogarty’s win in the 400 hurdles charged up her teammates as Nikki held off a Ward Melville rival.  In three straight events – the 800, 200 and 400 hurdles, Sachem took points that it needed to take control of the meet as Ward Melville was running out of events in the same manner that a baseball team runs out of outs in the late innings.

Sachem secured a team win following its victory in the 4x100 relay.  Sachem won the 4x400 as well with strong efforts from Ashley Williams and Aprilrose Marasco – both running their first events of the meet – and by Becca Duffy and Kelly Lavan.
