Sachem North Football Lends Hand in Reading Activity with Young Students

Arrows team up with Hiawatha Elementary for reading program.

Hiawatha Elementary School participated in the Parents as Reading Partners (PARP), a national literacy program that encourages young students and their parents to read together at home.

The staff at Hiawatha challenged their students to read a combined 1,200 books over the course of three weeks.

The elementary students received some extra motivation to reach their goal from members of the Sachem High School North football team and its coach David Falco. The athletes visited Hiawatha on three different occasions to participate in the PARP kick-off assembly and to read to classes.
