The Sachem North Varsity Football team defeated the Northport Tigers 34-20 on Friday night at Fred Fusaro stadium after a special tribue to high school scholar athletes and the 1983 Sachem football team that won the Suffolk County championship.
Malik Pierre had three touchdowns and more than 200 yards rushing, including a 50-yard touchdown that sealed the victory for the Arrows. Pierre grabbed MVP honors in the Great American Rivalry game, a highlighted game sponsored by the U.S. Marines every year.
The team hoisted the Great American Rivalry trophy at the end of the game, which was presented at midfield, along with special hats commemorating the event.Patch will have photos, clips and highlights from the game to come.
