Sachem North Continues Hot Offense

Arrows score 18 goals for second straight game, beat Northport.

Sachem North is back to its high scoring ways. The Arrows gave Northport little opportunity on both sides of the ball Thursday afternoon in an 18-4 walloping.

Sachem improves to 9-3 in Division I, while Northport is 7-5.

Tim Lang scored a career-high nine points (6g, 3a), while Dalton Crossan scored six goals and Tim Matos made a career-high 12 saves.

After Donovan Devaney scored Northport’s only goal of the first half in the final minute of the first quarter, Sachem went on an eight-goal run and led 13-1 heading into the third quarter.

Crossan and Lang exchanged goals multiple times and took turns chomping away at Northport’s defense.

“We lacked energy,” Northport coach George Searing said. “We didn’t come with that passion to play today. They were a step quicker getting to the ball. They made their shots early and put us in a hole.”

Sachem coach Jay Mauro said his group has set a goal to finish the season with four straight wins and secure the No. 4 seed in the Suffolk County Class A playoffs which start next week.

Sachem, which has won three straight games, hosts Bay Shore (7-4 Division I) Saturday and travels to Connetquot (8-3) Monday to finish the regular season.

The Arrows have scored 18 or more goals four times this season, including in two consecutive games.

Michael Andreassi (elbow), Tyler Andreassi (concussion) and Corey Gamblin (hip) did not play. Their statuses are all questionable.
