Sachem North Cheerleaders Come Together at Contractor for Kids Picnic

Last weekend, the Sachem North JV and Varsity cheerleading teams gathered at Southaven County Park in Yaphank for the Contractor For Kids Family Picnic Fundraiser.

Both teams volunteered their time running the many different events for the organization. They worked a variety of games from the rock wall to face painting and sand art booths.

"They did so with enthusiastic, warm, fun-loving attitudes that made their coaches extremely proud," said North coach Elizabeth Schlitt. "There was nothing they were not willing to do in order to help Contractor For Kids raise money for the amazing work they do for families in the Sachem community."

At the end of the event, the varsity team came together and performed their camp champions extreme routine and cheer.  

"Their performance was out of this world," Schlitt said.

Three hours later the team met at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium ready to cheer the football team onto victory.

"They complimented the football team by cheering for them as they put up one touchdown after another," Schlitt added, "while showcasing their athletic ability during each time out and half-time."

With the competition season looming for the girls, the coaching staff is confident this is one of the best groups in school history. Beyond that, they love to gloat about their personal characteristics.

"They are a group of positive kids who give from their hearts, they never let us down," Schlitt said. "We are exceptionally proud of them for what they do and how well they do it but even more so for who they are."
