Sachem North Alum Helps Hofstra Reach NCAA Tourney

The Hofstra Pride Women's Soccer team defeats UNC Wilmington in OT to capture CAA championship and punch ticket to the Tournament.

Sachem North Alum and Hofstra Pride junior defender Brittany Farriella helped the women's soccer team power past UNC Wilmington with a dramatic 2-1 overtime win, securing the team's inclusion in the NCAA tournament this year.

Hofstra captured its third CAA Championship title in its history when sophomore Sam Scolarici's 12-yard shot found the back of the net 3:39 into double-overtime yesterday afternoon. The game was played at William and Mary's Martin Family Stadium in Williamsburg, VA.

Another Long Islander, Lulu Echeverry, of East Meadow, banged in the opening goal of the game during regulation, and assisted on the winning goal from Scolarici.
