Sachem Hockey Drops Second Straight Game

Only had nine skaters in loss to Smithtown/Hauppauge.

With an even shorter bench then last game - nine skaters in all - Sachem came up short in a 6-3 loss against a very strong and undefeated Smithtown/Hauppauge team.

In a back and forth first period, the Arrows found themselves behind 2-0 going into the second. Chris Chizzonitti got things going two minutes into the second when he picked a loose puck and put the Arrows on the board. Less then a minute later Smithtown/Hauppauge regained the two-goal lead.

The Arrows came back to life when Chizzonitti and Erik Santiago each scored 20 seconds apart to tie the score at 3. That was all the scoring the Arrows could put together as Smithtown/Hauppauge scored two more times in the period and added another in the third to hand the Arrows their second straight defeat after winning seven in a row.

Goaltender Brandon Bassett and defensemen Joe Marrone, Sal Calvagna, Mike Russo and Chris Haun played great by clogging up the middle, keeping Smit/Hau to the outside and blocking many shots.

"We couldn't ask for more then what these nine players and goalie brought to the table tonight," said Sachem coach Al Posillico, "such a better effort all around then last game. Losing 6-3 to this team, with only nine skaters, is not to shabby. Great effort tonight, let's grow on that."

The Arrows take the ice again against Ward Welville Monday, December 5 at 9:40 p.m. at The Rinx in Hauppauge.
